FISHING REPORT (July 18, 2010)

RIVER SALMON SEASON OPENS JULY 31!

It’s hard to believe, but we are actually going to get a crack at some river salmon very soon! The Feather River opens to king fishing on July 31 and then season will run through Aug. 29.

The really exciting thing is there are fish here! A recent scouting mission revealed lots and lots of kings rolling below Thermalito…I was actually shocked by the numbers. We have excellent flows at the moment, too: 6,500 cfs and that should make the fishing hold up well even with the forecasted heavy pressure the river will likely see after two years of closures.

If you’re looking for a nice shot at Chinook…the Feather looks to be a really, really good bet next month! Just like old times? Well, we’ll just have to wait and see!
