Due
to the fact that it's difficult to access, the Yuba is a beautiful
river that offers plenty of elbow room and top-rate fishing.
It produces year-round fishing for wild rainbow trout that
can sometimes top 20 inches and, in the fall, it's also home
to king salmon big enough
to eat a trout of that size. It's the Yubas steelhead,
however, that really make the river stand out. Though not
huge (they run anywhere from 2-9 pounds), these half-pint
steelies are among the hardest fighting and most beautiful
fish you'll ever have the pleasure of encountering. The Yuba
gets a good shot of them mid-summer and again in October,
November and December.
As
an added bonus, there are lots of wild critters roaming the
Yuba's banks big bucks, strutting toms, ducks and geese
and even black bears. All that and good fishing to boot!
