LAKE TAHOE FISHING REPORT 7/19
After a late June slumber, Lake Tahoe's mackinaw (Lake Trout) have come back to life and the fishing has been good! As always, we have been using light tackle and are catching some nice fish! While the catch has been mostly mackinaw of late, there's always a shot at catching a nice brown or rainbow too! Kokanee salmon schools are increasing daily and that fishing should bust loose any minute now. Not too many places to fish with nicer views than Lake Tahoe!

SACRAMENTO RIVER KING SALMON FISHING TECHNIQUES
SALMON SEASON SET TO OPEN FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 3 YEARS! BY JD RICHEY I may look tired from a long season of catching kings, but I assure you I was stoked for this customer :) With king salmon season on the Sacramento River (the Feather, American and Mokelumne Rivers too!) set to open soon for the first time in three years, I figured I'd give everyone a quick refresher on technique. This time around, let's take a look at trolling... TROLLING THE SAC While the upper river feat

RAINBOWS, BROWNS, MACKS, CUTTS (all in one day!)
It's that time of year on Lake Tahoe...when we see cool mixed bag opportunities. We have been seeing lake trout, rainbows, browns and cutthroat (including all 4 in the same charter trip some days). The fish are on the surface so no need for deep gear and downriggers yet. Our water temps are still in the high 40's so the fish should be up top for awhile! We are up and rolling and will be on Tahoe all through the summer until late August. At that point, it's time for Alaska...a

APRIL SNOW!
I was going to put the boat in the water on Lake Tahoe last weekend, but Mother Nature had other ideas. Looks like the snow is done, however, and she'll be in the lake this week and ready to start fishing this weekend. Looking forward to getting back on the home waters! We'll be fishing all the way through the end of August on Tahoe, so make some plans to come see us! The lake is full and the fishing should be great! Read more about out Lake Tahoe fishing trips HERE

Trout Trolling Tips
A beautiful Lake Tahoe rainbow trout just prior to release. I gotta say there’s something that just feels right about being on a mountain lake at the crack of dawn, trolling for trout. Glass calm water, fresh morning air, the sun peeking over the horizon and the hum of the trolling motor…so awesome! Anyway, let’s talk about a couple of my favorite ways to catch fish in this scenario. You really don’t have to get too crazy with gear. Back in the day, I used to keep a box of t

Lake Tahoe Fishing Season is Here!
Nothing beats a sunny day on Lake Tahoe catching fish! After an awesome fall/winter season of fishing over at Pyramid Lake, we are back home on Lake Tahoe and looking forward to a great spring and summer! So far, there has been a nice brown trout bite, along with some good sized mackinaw and a few rainbows too. My boat's going in the water in the next few days and then it will be off the races fishing every day through the end of August (that's when I head for my Alaska guidi
